Biography

For his career, Villegas has appeared in 114 games with 91 hits in 316 at bats for a .288 batting average. He has scored 65 runs, has 15 doubles, one triple, one homerun, drove in 37 runs, has walked 51 times, and has a slugging percentage of .351. Villegas is ranked 10th in the OU record book in single season put outs (101), eighth in single season fielding percentage (.990), and second in career sacrifice hits (24).

2014: Playing in his first full season in two years, Villegas finished with 51 hits in 152 at bats for a .336 batting average. Because of his play, he earned First Team All-KCAC honors and earned a Gold Glove at Center Field. Villegas scored 34 runs, had seven doubles, one triple, one homerun, drove in 12 runs, had a slugging percentage of .414, walked 20 times, was hit by a pitch six times, had an on base percentage of .433, and he was 6-for-7 in stolen base attempts. He had 14 multi hit games. Villegas had a career high four hits and recorded his first collegiate homerun against Kansas Wesleyan University (4/12).

2013: Villegas had a slow start as a sophomore due to an injury. He appeared in 20 games, making 15 starts and finished with a .150 batting average. Villegas scored seven runs, had two doubles, drove in five runs, finished with a slugging percentage of .200, had seven walks, had an on base percentage of .292, and had two sacrifice hits. He finished with two multi hit games with the last being against MidAmerica Christian University (3/26). Villegas exelled off of the diamond as well. He was named a Daktronic Scholar Athlete.

2012: Villegas appeared in 47 games with 46 starts on his way to earning Honorable Mention All-KCAC honors for the Braves in his first collegiate season. He had a .274 batting average with 34 hits in 124 at bats. Villegas scored 24 runs, had six doubles, 20 RBI, a slugging percentage of .323, 24 walks, a .416 on base percentage, 16 sacrifice hits, and he was 5-for-7 in stolen base attempts. Villegas earned his first collegiate hit against Dakota State University (2/19). He had two or more hits in a game seven times and had a season high three hits twice with the last being against McPherson College (4/16).

High School: Villegas helped the Venezuela Team to a 2007 Silver Medal at the Central American and Caribbean Interscholastic Championships in Puerto Rico, competing against teams from Honduras, Panama, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. Competing for the Texas 1A Team in Venezuelan Junior Special League in 2009, he hit .349, had a .419 Slugging, and a .942 fielding percentage. Villegas was a 2008 All-League Selection of the Leoncio Martinez League in Venezuela and competed in the Invitational Tournament in La Romana, Dominican Republic in September where he was a starting outfielder. In 2006 he represented Venezuela at the Scholastic Nationals in Cuba.
