2015: Reed redshirted his junior season.

Ellsworth Community College: Reed was a two-year letterman on the gridiron for Ellsworth Community College. In 2014 he played in eight games, finishing with four receptions for 32 yards. As a freshman, Reed played in nine games and had 14 receptions for 213 yards. He had a career high three receptions against Iowa Western Community College.  

High School: At East High School, Reed earned two letters in football and track for the Trojans. As a senior, he earned Second Team All-Mississippi Valley Conference and was named the 2011 Glenn “Doc” Miller Most Valuable Player from the Waterloo rotary Club. Reed led EHS with 26 receptions for 597 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging 23 yards per reception. He led the Trojans to their first winning season since 1999 and an appearance in the Iowa 4A Football State Playoffs.
