High School: Wethington was a four year letter winner on the gridiron for Wamego High School. He also earned three letters in basketball for the Red Raiders. Wethington helped lead WHS to the 2012 North Central Kansas League (NCKL) Championship on the football field. In 2012 he earned First Team All-League honors at quarterback, was named All-Flint Hills First Team, was named Flint Hills Area Player of the Year, earned Honorable Mention All-State honors, was selected NCKL Offensive Player of the Year, and was named Most Inspirational Player of the Year. Wethington earned Honorable Mention All-NCKL honors in 2011 in both football and basketball and he was named Flint Hills Offensive Player of the Year.  He was also a Kansas Shrine Bowl nominee. In Wethington’s senior season, he passed for 2,052 yards, threw for 19 touchdowns, rushed for 287 yards, and had 11 rushing touchdowns. For his varsity career, Wethington threw for over 3,000 yards and had a total of 41 touchdowns rushing and passing.
