2013: Hernandez finished his junior season with a career high 14 receptions for 165 yards. He averaged 1.6 receptions per game and 18.3 yards per reception.

2012: Hernandez had 13 receptions for 138 yards and one touchdown as a sophomore for the Braves. He averaged 10.6 yards per reception and 23 yards receiving per game. Hernandez recorded his first career touchdown against McPherson College (10/13).

2011: Hernandez split time between the varsity and junior varsity as a freshman.

High School: Hernandez earned four letters in football and basketball along with three in track for Meade High School. He helped lead the Buffaloes to a 2-1A Kansas State Football Championship, where he rushed for 151 yards, two touchdowns and made eight tackles. The game was played at Fort Hays State University on November 27, 2010. Hernandez was a two-time First Team All-League selec­tion and earned First Team All-District at defensive back in 2010. He also earned First Team All-League and All-District at running back as a senior. He was a Second Team All-League running back in 2009. Hernandez was named the 2010 All-District Offensive MVP, and was a First Team All-State selection at defensive back and running back. On the basketball court, he earned First Team All-League and was named Honorable Mention All-State.
